JOSEF GOČÁR
GLASS-FRONTED BOOKCASE, 1912

Thanks to the lightness of its dynamic lines and panes of glass, the glassfronted bookcase that Gočár designed for his own apartment is one of the purest examples of Czech Cubism. The architect occasionally managed to get by without it, lending it to a number of exhibitions (e.g. in Prague in 1912, and Cologne in 1914).

stained oak, mahogany, veneered, 193/110/60 cm
